Surprising Him With His New Home
After presenting Lee with a new home, Sarah gave the older man a big hug. Fighting back the tears, she asks him, “You remember when this started, and I promised you we were going to help you?” Lee was very much surprised, and after taking time trying to think of the right words to say, he finally said, “It’s wonderful.” He added, “I’m so grateful for people doing this.” Lee needed help and even though he had no family around to give him a helping hand, the community stepped up, which he truly appreciated.

Touring His New Home
When the initial shock waned, and everyone got a moment to dry their eyes, Lee was toured in his new home. Together with the volunteers, Angela and Sarah stocked the cabinets with food and they made sure that Lee would have everything he needed for taking care of himself when he couldn’t get food from Meals on Wheels on the weekends. There was also a washer and dryer in the home and in the bedroom was a welcoming message which read, “Joy, hope, love, peace, believe.”
