Klynn Scales lived in Kansas City, Missouri when she was a young girl in the 1990s. At an early age, she started helping her mom look after her two younger brothers, but to people on the outside, she looked like just a young girl with a normal life. However, her life was anything but normal as her neighborhood was so dangerous. Klynn would look forward to the sight of the police officer driving by her home every day. Although this was the sad reality of Klynn’s life, she somehow found a way to accept it, and this was the reason she survived this really difficult time in her life.

The house where Klynn Scales grew up with her brothers was in a neighborhood which was ruined by violence and drugs. Even though no child should ever have to grow up in a place like that, it was the reality for Klynn. What made matters worse was the fact that Klynn’s mother was hardly ever home since she had to work ruthless hours for her family to have a roof over their heads. Therefore, much of the time Klynn was growing up she spent on raising her brothers, which is a lot to ask somebody who hasn’t even reached her teenage years yet.
