Men Of Many Talents

We’re all used to hearing about musicians who wanted to become artists or performers from the get-go. However, the members of Queen did indeed have many talents. They were an unlikely ensemble, with each member having a degree in a different field. Brian May had a Ph.D. in physics and astronomy, Roger Taylor was a trained dentist, John Deacon had a doctorate in electronics, and of course, Freddie had his degree in graphic art. Even though it’s clear they all had a different path in mind, they eventually made their way into the music industry, changing it forever.

The Emblem

Freddie designed the band’s emblem himself. This isn’t much of a surprise since he had a degree in Graphic Design. The crest features the zodiac signs of the members of the band: two Leo lions for John Deacon and Roger Taylor, a Cancer crab for Brian May, and two fairies for Freddie’s Virgo sign. Of course, the ‘Q’ is for the band’s name, along with the crown, and overtop is a Pheonix protecting the whole thing.
