Freddie was a natural performer. Not only could he sing four octaves, but he channeled their music and had a great stage presence. His voice was a very rare thing. To put it in perspective, Mariah Carey has a five-octave range and Celine Dion a three-octave voice. As soon as the band heard Freddie sing, they knew they had someone special.

Different Sound

Queen was gaining a serious following by 1973 and they were picking up speed in the music scene. Freddie was clearly made for the stage. He had an electrifying presence that left people in awe. During a time where rock and roll was the mainstream, Queen’s music was different and unexpected, their sound was like a breath of fresh air. Queen started to become a known name.
