The combined Appeals Court of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba removed the restrictions set against Joran and the Kalpoes. This meant that their travel restriction and charges were all dropped. Moreover, Joran went back to the Netherlands and started attending university there.

New Arrest
There were several other suspects taken into custody after Joran and the brothers. There was the disc jockey Steve Gregory Croes, as well as Joran’s father Paulus van der Sloot. The former had been on the suspect list from the start as Joran talked about him in the original statement he made. However, both men had confirmed alibis and they were released after several days. This proved to be another dead end.
