By the middle of December, the Aruban officials had no other leads. In fact, prosecutor Hans Mos announced the case closed. However, prosecutors continued to suspect the three young men. The outrage of their defense lawyers was understandable. Attorney Ronald Wix later said, “Unless (Mos) finds a body in the bathroom of one of these kids, there’s no way in hell they can arrest them anymore.”
