The Persistence

Dave Holloway announced that they launched a search for his daughter again in November 2007. They used a vessel called Persistence to probe the waters beyond the 330-foot depths the first searches combed through. It started off well, though this had to be abandoned later on when the costs proved to be prohibitive. By the end of February 2008, they did not find anything significant.

Prosecution Pitfall

A judge approved the release of the Kalpoes on November 30, 2007. They succeeded despite the prosecution’s attempt to extend the detention. The prosecution tried to appeal the release but it was rightfully denied. Here was what the court had to say about it: “Notwithstanding expensive and lengthy investigations on her disappearance and on people who could be involved, the file against the suspect does not contain direct indications that Natalee passed away due to a violent crime.”
