Fitting In
While Basha High School was just down the street, transferring made a world of difference to Becca. Here she fit in rather than stood out. Her peers were good as well. Although, due to the transfer rules, she was forced to sit out in her junior year (2015-16). Since she couldn’t play in the games themselves, Becca spent the year with the team improving her game. Eventually, perfecting her skills would help her make NCAA history down the line. As difficult as it was for her to sit out for a year, she didn’t have much of a choice. As the saying goes, patience is a virtue.
Taking Her Place
When Becca finally made her debut as a Basha kicker during her senior year in 2016, it was like she had never stopped playing. She connected 35 of 38 extra points and nailed her only field goal of the season. She proved to everyone that it was just where she belonged. Even the times that she missed, they weren’t actually her fault. With school, Becca fit right in and made an instant connection with her classmates as well as her teammates. She was no longer known as the only female kicker on the football team, she was just Becca, who happened to be great at football.
