The Day It Would All Change
During an ordinary spring day in a suburb roughly 30 minutes outside of Pheonix, at Queen Creek High School near Chandler, Az., an idea popped into Becca’s mind. As her freshman year wound down (2013-2014), she was walking along with a friend from class. While the school year was ending, her dreams were about to become a reality. While the football team was practicing, Becca noticed there was not a girl anywhere on the field. This fact wasn’t sitting well with Becca, and the frustration that arose in response turned into motivation.
A New Tradition
At that moment, Becca, who was a star soccer and basketball player at Queen Creek, decided she was going to start kicking a different kind of ball, as she told her friend. She was going to transition into a sport that was deemed unsuitable for any girl, and she would break the invisible boundaries put in place, pushing the limits. Becca was going to join the football team and be a three-sport athlete. She always had a feeling she would make it far as an athlete, and this moment was when she was going to declare it for everyone to hear.
