Becca’s older brother, Bobby, was 11 years older than her and was a defensive end on his high school football team. Much more than that, Bobby’s moves on the field greatly influenced Becca growing up. To her, he was an icon who she admired. Watching him from a young age truly inspired Becca. Whatever Bobby did, she wanted to do better. Since he played in high school, she wanted to play in college. The thing was, that college was out of the question. Football was only suitable for boys, because of its aggressive nature. The claims at the time were that girls would not be able to play due to their fragility.

At the time, people were saying how football was too dangerous for girls. That Becca would get hurt out on the field. As a result, Becca stayed with the more traditional sports. She played soccer splendidly as well as basketball. However, football still lingered in the back of her mind no matter what she did. The sound of pads colliding while watching her brother play, the bang of a kicker’s foot contacting the ball, they were not forgotten by her. Those very memories are the ones which will, in turn, inspire her to make history and shape her future.
