“They’ve accepted me for me. We’re all really close. Once you step off the field, everybody is a best friend,” Becca said to the Associated Press. “I’ve done this for so long, so when I’m on the field, I am one of the guys, because that’s how they treat me,” she continued. “But sometimes, I’ll walk on the field by myself and think, ‘I’m playing college football. How crazy is that.’” Getting along with teammates is incredibly important, as tension between the players can greatly affect the games. The team needs to have good chemistry to play their best games.

An NCAA First

When Becca will boot her first collegiate kick for Adams State, it will be the first for the NCAA. As meaningful as that is, it won’t be the first time a woman would score at the Division I FBS level. The first woman to do that was Katie Hnida, who had originally started at the University of Colorado and then transferred to the University of New Mexico. There she’d set the record by kicking a PAT in a blowout victory in 2003.
