While Becca is making history, she won’t be the first woman to score at the Division I level in general. This monumental feat was accomplished by Ashley Martin who hit an extra point during the 2001 season when playing for Jacksonville State University, a Division I FCS program. The university was located in Jacksonville, Alabama, not in Florida. Before becoming a Division I FCS university, they were Division II.

First Female Football Scholarship

Becca Longo is the first female to get an athletic scholarship as a football player, getting her education for free. While Becca fully understands the magnitude of this feat, she can’t let it affect how she plays or let it get to her head. She needs to show everyone just how deserving she is of this incredible opportunity. Even though there have been others who scored before her, she was the first one recruited specifically to play football rather than be a walk-on or get invited to try out for the team.
