As a United Artists Television employee, Sherwood Schwartz was becoming a huge name in the television industry. Even so, when he wanted to speak to Jim Aubrey, president of CBS at the time, to pitch Gilligan’s Island, Aubrey felt some hesitation due to the concept. This CBS president anticipated that fans would grow frustrated with the cast not being able to escape the island. Luckily, thanks to Sherwood Schwartz’s persistence, Gilligan’s Island became a huge success.
