Now that we’re really getting into it, we have to break it to fans that the pilot wasn’t exactly in line with how the show ended up. First off, there were different Gilligan’s Island characters. In addition, the women were actually secretaries and a teacher for high school. Thus, the network realized this dramatically different pilot could confuse fans. Therefore, they didn’t re-broadcast it until they estimated audiences would be able to handle these discrepancies. That wasn’t until 1992!

Two Cartoons

In order to stay relevant, many shows during the 1960’s and even 70’s, would adapt to cartoons and have spin-off animated shows. Yes, Gilligan’s Island also did this. In fact, the show had two Gilligan’s Island cartoons. There was the classic one, Gilligan’s Island and the outer space one called Gilligan’s Planet.
