The Great Sphinx
It is one of the greatest attractions in Egypt and we can understand why. The marvelous structure made out of limestone is called “Abu al-Haul” in Arabic, which means, “The Terrifying One”. Even though the landmark is probably covering a sea of historical treasures, the Egyptian authorites have limited access and exploration of the area. Egyptologists determined that the sphinx must have been painted from time to time since they found color traces on the sphinx.
The Nazca Lines
The ancient Nazca people used to draw lines in the sand in Peru. The beautiful markings show an array of animals like monkeys and lizards. Because the region has stable and dry weather conditions, the artworks have remained for centuries. Historians and experts suggest that the markings relate to the ancient studies of astronomy and cosmology.
