The Oracle Of The Dead

It was in 1962 when explorers found a system of tunnels in the cliffs in Baiae, Italy. The complex has been named the “Oracle of the Dead” because it was the site where locals would consult with dead family and community members. Surprisingly, archaeologists haven’t studied too much about this secretive part of Necromanteion.

The Hobbit Cemetery

We thought this was a Lord of the Rings thing, but clearly it wasn’t. A collaboration of Australian and Indonesian archaeologists found the remaining body parts of nine miniature human bodies. Their heights were about 3.3 feet tall and their estimated weight was about 55 pounds each. After detailed research, the team concluded these little people must have lived about 13,000 years ago.
