The Zhou Dynasty Chariots
During the Zhou Dynasty, the ancient Chinese population would have more-than-extravagant funerals. In fact they would start preparing years in advance. A 3,000 year-old tomb was discovered in Luoyang, China. In the tomb, chariots and the carcasses of horses lay with gold, bronze and ceramics surrounding them. Archaeologists were really taken aback that everything was intact, especially the riches since others had been robbed in the past.
The Easter Island Heads
Despite what many people believe, the Easter Island heads are not just heads, they are actually full-bodied humanoids that have just sunk deep into the ground. The Rapa Nui people manufactured more than 900 statues and transported them all over the island between the years 1250 and 1500. Each one is supposed to honor a deceased member of one’s family.
