Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway was a genius novelist, short story writer, and journalist. His 195 novel The Old Man and the Sea is brilliant, it was even awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and was cited by the Nobel Committee as contributing to their awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature to Hemingway in 1954. Sadly, in 1961 he committed suicide and his last words were to his wife Mary, “Goodnight my kitten.”

Huddie William Ledbetter

Huddie William Ledbetter, or better known as Lead Belly, was a folk and blues musician. He was well known for his strong vocals, virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar, and the folk standards that he introduced. At age 60, he passed away and his last words were, “Doctor, if I put this here guitar down now, I ain’t never gonna wake up.” And he was right.
