Shetland Sheepdog
The Shetland Sheepdog may have the same appearance as the Collie, but they actually do not have the same intellectual capacity. Shetland Sheepdogs are a lot more intelligent and agile than the Collies. They are often called mini Collies, but they are not the same breed! Shetland Sheepdogs have both the intelligence and strength combined into one small body. Like other herding dogs, they have similar characteristics as the Collies and the Shepherds. This amazing breed is also easy to train and are very obedient. They were initially bred to survive in harsh climates. That’s why they have a warm, long-haired coat.
Golden Retriever
The Golden Retriever is the 5th smartest dog on our list. They also make the greatest family dog because of their loyal, intelligent, and lovable character. Golden Retrievers are often dependent on their owners and are quite attached to their loved ones. More than any other kinds of dogs, these guys need to have a purpose or function. These dogs are often seen as a disability assistance dog as they have the best sense of detection and they can easily perform a search & rescue. In the U.S., these dogs are the 3rd in rank as the most common breed of a family dog. This is not surprising as they are very friendly and gentle.
