In 2008, Reba earned her 56th Top 10 hit after she re-recorded the single Cowgirls Don’t Cry with Brooks & Dunn. It ended up breaking the record for the most Top 10 hits of any female country music artist! The record was previously held by none other than Dolly Parton. It was later that same year that she announced her departure from the record label after 25 years, 2 Grammy Awards, and 67 million records sold. She then signed a deal with Valory Music Group.

In 2012, many news reports came out about the supposed death of Reba. The stories claim she fell off a cliff while filming in Austria and suffered a tragic death. It spread like wildfire and broke the hearts of many fans. As soon as her sister heard the news, Reba received a panicked call from the concerned sibling. Luckily, they put an end to the false news when she confirmed that she was perfectly fine. She eventually took to Twitter to confirm that she was fine. “There are so many of those hoaxes that are just going around and I think it’s cruel. That’s not funny,” she said.
