Trouble In Paradise
Reba and her then-husband Charlie Battles lived at his Oklahoma ranch. However, her blossoming career was putting more and more pressure on the marriage. He wanted her to stay home with him and help out, but she had to keep performing on the road. This resulted in endless arguments until they finally got a divorce in 1987. This was what Reba had to say about the divorce: “I had to pack everything in one day and leave. I was totally starting over. I wasn’t the little girl anymore, taking orders and doing what he said”.

Tragedy Struck
Reba was dominating the scene when tragedy struck in 1991. Her band was taking a charter plane when it crashed into a mountain close to San Diego. Everyone aboard the plane lost their lives. Eight members of her band had been killed in the accident. Poor visibility was the general consensus for the plane crash. At the time, Reba was sleeping soundly at a nearby hotel. You can just imagine how devastated she was to learn the news. It was like losing a family, according to her. Some of the crew had been with her band for numerous years.
