In 2007, over 20,000 BBC 2 listeners voted for Queen as the best British band. They even edged out The Beatles by 400 votes. The poll judged the bands based on live performances, songwriting, originality, lyrics, and showmanship. Other bands in the running were The Rolling Stones, Oasis, and Take That.
