The inspiration for the iconic image of the band in the dark with their faces upturned was the actress Marlene Dietrich. The image was inspired by a still from the movie “Shanghai Express”.

“I Do”
In 1985, Freddie participated in a Fashion Aid Charity event that raised money for Ethiopian famine relief. He strutted down the star-studded runway in a military jacket designed by David Emanuel, who also happened to design Princess Diana’s wedding dress. During the show, Freddie linked up with actress Jane Seymour, who was in an over-the-top wedding dress and they got “married”, sealing the union with a kiss.
