After she finally woke up from her evil dream – so the legend goes – Sister Maria Crocifissa Della Concezione found herself completely soaked in dark ink. A strange letter had evidently come into her own during the night, and it was all scribbled with some very questionable glyphs that couldn’t be deciphered by her or anyone else she knew. Adding to the mysterious riddle, it appears that the religious recluse claimed that it was Satan himself who had composed the dark message – but nobody had any way to translate the message and understand what was really written there…
Sister Maria
The island of Sicily, where Sister Maria had gone to take otherworldly shelter, is a place of profound established Christian conventions. In reality, Saint Paul is said to have lectured there almost two millennia prior. However, where there is Christ, ostensibly there is Satan as well, for the interminable battle among great and evil is a major part of Christian convention that will always go on. What made the nun decide to go there?
Maria Crocifissa Della Concezione
Born in 1645, Isabella Tomasi was 15 years of age when she joined a Benedictine religious circle in the Sicilian town of Palma di Montechiaro. There, she was purified through water and renamed Maria Crocifissa Della Concezione. The Benedictine request generally shows work, harmony, and petition. In any case, for all her work and dedication, Sister Maria didn’t appear to find a sense of contentment. Indeed, she pronounced that she has been controlled by the Devil himself.
