When questioned by the police, Joran told them he dropped her off at the hotel at around 2 in the morning. According to him, he did not see her again after that. Joran also mentioned that he saw a man in black approach her as she walked towards the hotel. He said the man was dressed like a security guard and that she looked fine so he and his friends decided to leave.

However, Joran van der Sloot changed the story multiple times throughout the investigation. According to some people, he was doing it on purpose in order to mislead the police. Others were less suspicious and believed the young man was actually innocent and only wanted attention. Regardless, his ever-changing story became unbearable. Everyone hoped the truth would reveal itself in no time.
