Duct Tape Sample
It was not long after that the FBI reported how the Aruban officials gave them the documents, interviews, and the rest of the evidence in the case. This was when the investigators discovered a strip of duct tape with strands of blonde hair on it! These samples were apparently sent to a Dutch lab for testing. After the acquisition of the evidence, the Aruban authorities went all the way to the FBI laboratory located at Quantico, Virginia for a consultation. The FBI ran this piece of evidence for the second time. It was yet another dead end as the hair samples they retrieved did not turn out to be Natalee Holloway’s.
Arrests…Again
The Kalpoe brothers were apprehended again on August 26. This time, they were arrested together with a different suspect, a 21-year-old man named Freddy Arambatzis. Arambatzis’s legal counsel explained that the suspect was believed to have photographed and inappropriately touched a minor. The incident took place before Natalee vanished. What did this have to do with the case? Well, van der Sloot and the Kalpoes were reportedly involved in the same incident. Anita van der Sloot, the mother of Joran, said, “It’s a desperate attempt to get the boys to talk. But there is nothing to talk about.” However, the authorities refused to explain why the Kalpoe brothers were apprehended for the second time. It was only later on that Dompig revealed that they tried to pressure the two to confess but, to no avail.
