Although Emma was an adult now and the two still shared something special, there was always present danger for Emma. As a full-grown moose, she became a target for the local hunters. This made Plucas nervous. He still saw it as his duty to keep her safe from them, so he invented the perfect plan.

His Risky Plan
Plucas did not give up, but is plan was a bit crazy. He went for the extreme, hoping to make a difference. So, Plucas called the hunters from his area and invited them over. He wanted them to meet Emma for themselves. He didn’t know if this meeting could change their minds, but he was willing to try whatever he could to protect Emma. He said, “I had some hunters over for them to see her as not just a nice, warm steak with potatoes and vegetables on the table, but as a very intelligent and loving animal.”
