Although it was hard to argue with Animal Services, Plucas was not going to give up easily. Finally, after insisting he would take care of the calf, they gave him the okay. Initially, he believed, he would care for the moose until she was back to normal health, but then everything changed.

Although nursing the young calf was a huge part of the care, Plucas also felt like a real father now. So, he realized he wanted a name for this new pseudo child of him. He picked the name, Emma. Naming Emma was easy, but caring for her and feeding her every minute was a serious challenge for him.
