The very next day Animal Services would arrive to relieve the untrained Plucas of his calf caring duties. The thought of this comforted Plucas who felt a huge weight on him to care for this hurt calf. Then, Animal Services broke the news to Plucas that would not be able to help. Worse than that, they offered something horrific as a solution.

Turning To The Hunters
Animal Services actually suggested that Plucas make a call to some local hunters, promising him that the hunters would be able to deal with this calf. Of course, Plucas knew what they meant by that. Hearing this, he was disgusted about giving this poor animal over to the people who probably killed her mother. Even though he knew keeping a wild animal was illegal, Plucas could not stomach giving her over to those hunters.
