Chaokoh Coconut Milk

Chaokoh coconut milk was actually removed from several retailers’ racks, including Costco, after PETA accused the corporation of harvesting coconuts with monkey labor. Theppadungporn Coconut Co., a Thai supplier, was accused by PETA of obtaining its coconut milk from establishments and farms that used caged monkeys. According to USA Today, the company has signed an agreement with its distributors, stating that no monkey labor has been used on their farms. In a letter to PETA’s president in September 2020, Costco Vice President of Corporate Food and Sundries Ken Kimble stated that the sellers club was going to investigate its suppliers but that the product would be removed from store shelves for the moment being.

Eggs From Caged Chickens

Costco announced in 2020 that all of its stores across the country would only sell cage-free eggs as a major aspect of its animal welfare policy. However, depending on suppliers, getting there could take a couple of years. In the United States, 93.2 percent of Costco’s eggs were cage-free as of the fiscal year 2020, but in France, Iceland, Spain, and the United Kingdom, the distributor had already achieved its 100 percent goal. So before you buy eggs, look for the cage-free certification on the cartons. Kirkland Signature Organic Large Brown Eggs and Kirkland Signature Liquid Egg Whites are two cage-free Costco products.
