According to Brooks, “The whole movie cost about $2.6 million – nobody got anything.” He basically earned about $50,000 for the work he did as a writer, a director, and everything else. Little did they know that major success was just around the corner.

Not only did the movie receive high-profile praise and appreciation from fans all around the world, but Blazing Saddles later became one of Warner Brother’s Most Successful Films of All Time. When the movie was initially released in the box offices, it grossed over $120M. It also received three Oscar nominations. Still the iconic movie had staying power, and inspired generations of new fans. The movie recently celebrated it’s 40th anniversary and to this day the movie has sold over 4.6M copies of DVDs and Blu-rays.
