Mel Brooks Believes In His Film
The hilarious Blazing Saddles has earned Mel Brooks plenty of accolades. Without worrying much about modesty, he has said that he thinks it is among the funniest films of all time. When comparing his movie to Some Like It Hot, Brooks commented, “Billy Wilder’s film is extremely funny, but scene for scene, there are more laughs in my movie. It’s not right for me to say so, but I really think this could be the funniest motion picture ever made.”

Madeline Kahn Has Got The Legs
When Brooks created the character of Lili von Shtupp, he had already thought of Madeline Kahn playing the role since he knew the actress had the comedic chops. When she came in to audition, Brooks asked her if she could see her legs. Assuming that his intentions were not pure, Kahn said, “Oh, you’re that kind of guy,” but Brooks clarified that the von Shtupp character was a Marlene Dietrich spoof and therefore needed pretty nice legs. Kahn understood but warned Brooks, “No touching!”
