Next thing she knew, Adams State offered a scholarship to Becca, making her the first female to get a football scholarship at the NCAA Division I or II level. The university was not the least bit concerned with the precedent, they only were concerned about winning. Winning was time-sensitive in college football. “I was completely shocked. Everybody who has it on video said my jaw dropped to the floor,” Becca told CNN. Although there had been female kickers before her, none had been able to earn a scholarship from the football team.

“I was so emotional. I was just so grateful that somebody believed in me and that I could actually do it,” Becca said to CNN. While her numbers in high school were great, she didn’t get the attention she deserved simply because she was a girl.
