Military Service
According to Amish principles, they are not allowed to serve in the military. In addition to battle, this is true for other roles where violence or hostility might be observed, such as law enforcement, politics, and legal proceedings. The Amish believe in non-resistance, which is a term that differs from pacifism in that it expresses their point of view fully.

It will be necessary for the “Ordnung” of an Amish community to impose distinct laws and regulations depending on which community is being addressed. The majority of the groups restrict the Amish from owning vehicles, using energy from public utility lines, and operating automatic farm equipment, among other things such as watching television or listening to the radio. Photography is also prohibited owing to the danger of fostering vanity, which the Amish hold to be a sin to the greatest degree.
