Don Budge

The former American tennis champion who was the World No. 1 player for five years! Don Budge is most famous as the first player, male or female, and also the only American male to have won in a single year the four tournaments which make up the Grand Slam. He’s also the second male player, and the youngest (!), to win all four Grand Slams in his career. Budge won 10 majors and four Pro Slams, and was considered to have the best backhand in history, at least until Ken Rosewall came up in the 50’s and 60’s.
