Now, this one might be a shocker to fans, but actress Tina Louise did not enjoy hanging out leisurely with her costars. Actually, even when the crew did group interviews she wasn’t really around. Perhaps, this goes back to the fact that she never wanted to be typecast as Ginger from Gilligan’s Island. However, once the actors moved on from Gilligan’s Island, film and TV producers did fear audiences would only see them as their iconic characters.

Lots of people thought they saw a romance brewing between Mary Ann and the Professor. Millions hoped to finally watch something come to fruition with those two. However, Schwartz wanted Gilligan’s Island to stay completely family friendly. Therefore, he did not allow for any love interests to be part of the show even if everyone saw Mary Ann and the Professor as a natural fit.
