Atlantis

When it comes to mystery, the mythological island of Atlantis ranks way up high. The so-called lost city has been reported “found” in many places around the globe like, in the Bahamas, the Greek Islands, Cuba, and Japan. The island was first mentioned by Plato in 360 B.C., and the running belief – for those that believe it – is that the city sunk beneath the sea over 10,000 years ago.

Sanxingdui

An ancient artifact discovery is not always planned. A Chinese man was fixing a sewage ditch when he stumbled across a hidden treasure. The trove was full of stone artifacts and jewels. Later, in 1986, the area was fully unearthed and the full discovery of treasures from the Bronze Age was underway. The collection of artifacts are believed to have come from the Sanxingdui civilization which existed around 3,000 years ago.
