Dara Torres
Forget Michael Phelps, this champion swimmer from America won 12 Olympic medals! Also, she was the first to represent the USA at five games in 1984, 1988, 1992, 2000 and 2008. Torres is one of just three women to rank as winning the most medals in swimming in Olympic history.
Carolina Klüft
Although now this Swedish track star is retired, she made Olympic history. How you ask? She won the heptathlon in 2004 and became the only track and field star to claim three consecutive world titles from 2003 to 2007 for the heptathlon. If that’s not impressive enough, she won 9 consecutive golds at major championships.
