Art Schlichter
You might remember that Schlichter was picked fourth by the Colts in the 1982 NFL Draft but you probably just remember that he was a compulsive gambler who blew all his money, including his entire signing bonus by midseason. By the end of the 1982 NFL strike, he had around $700,000 in gambling debts. Then in winter of 1982 and the spring of 1983, Schlichter had lost $489,000 betting on basketball games but worked a deal with the FBI to expose the bookies and save his own behind. After this, he played on and off and not very well as his quarterback rating was 42.6, and is considered one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history.
