Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings
In case you didn’t know, in his 10 year career, Peterson has played as running back for the Minnesota Vikings, now we could dive into all of his achievements in his 10 year career but then we’d be here for ages so let’s just get to it. Peterson is currently coming off of a season-ending knee injury, will have a salary cap hit of $18 million in 2017 (which is the final year of his current contract), but most importantly, he may not fit into the Vikings’ offensive plans anymore. A report from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune came out saying that the Vikings’ offense will be operating out of the shotgun (which doesn’t suit Peterson’s running style) more frequently with QB Teddy Bridgewater. There’s no doubt that Peterson will forever be remembered as the best running back in Vikings history, but this could very well be the end for him in a purple jersey.
Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers
Since 2016, Stewart has been battling multiple nagging injuries and as a direct result, his production hasn’t been his usual. We are pretty sure that the Panthers plan to release Stewart this offseason, saving them $4.75 million in salary cap space.
