A Father and Son At Odds
So when Paul Sr. fired his son, a whole slew of legal issues popped up for the show. TLC remarked that their contract clearly said both men needed to be on the show, and if just one left, the show was over. Initially Paul Sr. refused to rehire his son therefore TLC filed a “notice of default and cancelled production”. Filming picked back up when Paul Sr. finally re-hired his son as a contractor.
Contract Problems
Paul Jr.’s new contract had a pretty massive loophole. Technically Paul Sr. could buy out Paul Jr.’s entire stake in Orange County Choppers. Which means that his son would be blocked out of all rights to be on the show or any money the company made as well. It was this moment that defined the ongoing feud in the Teutul family.
