Turns out that when Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr. had their falling out and Paul Jr. wanted to open up his own bike shop and Paul Sr. was approached by network executives with an idea. See the executives wanted to have a show that pitted the father and son against one another. However Paul Sr. wasn’t having any of it, he fought the execs against doing the whole build off challenge.

Although at the time, Paul Sr.’s shop was struggling financially and his own show wasn’t even on air at the time. Once his staff urged him to participate in the show, especially concerning how much money they’d make, did Paul Sr. finally agree. (Money talks, eh?/)
