Kathleen Turner Then
In the 1980s, it was difficult to visit the movies without seeing Kathleen Turner. Popular films in which she starred include Body Heat, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, The War of the Roses, and Peggy Sue Got Married. Her smoldering beautiful looks and seductive voice made her a perfect candidate for the Hollywood role of femme fatale. She won the Golden Globe for Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award during the decade.
Kathleen Turner Now
Kathleen Turner has little control over her transformation from seductress to ordinary citizen. In the 1990s, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which caused her tremendous pain and attempted to limit her to a wheelchair. Some critics criticized the medicine prescribed for her rehabilitation on the grounds that it caused general weight gain and bloating. Turner, like so many other female actors, was demoted, and her playing offers went from “star” to “mother” or even “grandmother.” Her arthritis has happily gone into remission in recent years, and she has appeared in numerous guest roles throughout the years, such as Friends, Nip/Tuck, and Californication. We are relieved that her appearance and health have improved.
