‘Ava’
Achavanich is a mysterious site in Scotland’s Highlands. The remains of a woman named ‘Ava’ were discovered in this horseshoe-shaped arrangement, which they named for her. They estimated she was between the ages of 18 and 22 when she died. It’s difficult to believe her skeletal remains date back more than 3,700 years.
What ‘Ava’ Really Looked Like
The National Science Foundation supported the ‘Achavanich Beaker Burial Project,’ which was led by archaeologists Hew Morrison and Maya Hoole. During this time, scientists focused on reconstructing the face of the discovered woman. As a consequence of their efforts, they learned a lot about Ava and the Bronze Age. Because of her DNA, they were given the opportunity to see what she looked like!
