Making A Scene
“That’s it!” thought Baker. He remained seated, and then calmly asked, “Can I speak to your manager?” Without a word, she walked from behind the counter to one side and yelled at someone at the back of the kitchen. She returned her blank look toward Baker, and then a female came out to answer his call. She looks at Baker and says, “What’s the problem here, sir? You’re holding up the people behind you.”
The Manager
Baker recognized the roots of the employee’s behavior. This is not something he will enjoy at all, he recognizes. He took great offense at the demeaning accusation that he is the reason for such ridiculous lines and patiently explained what had truly occurred as well as how the problem he sees in her institution must be resolved by management. Her comment was certainly unexpected.
