Footing The Bill
Anna and Michael Xufu, a museum founder and art collector, first met during an art show they both attended. The two formed a quick friendship and even took a trip together. They went to Italy to go see the Venice Biennale. Anna acted “a little weird”, said Huang when talking about the way she asked him to use his card to pay for her flight and accommodation. Of course, she told him that she would pay him back for everything. Luckily for her, it was not a big deal to Michael since he had the money to spare anyway.

During the trip, he thought it was peculiar that Anna paid exclusively in cash. Although it was odd, he did not think it was a big enough issue to bring it up with her. The trip came to an end, and it was time to head home. Although she promised to pay him back, she never brought it up again. Michael, however, was more or less used to this kind of behavior. He knew how the super-rich often forgot “minor details” like this. In fact, he forgot about it as well!
