The Great Outdoors
This color works so well because it makes the porch feel like an extension of the outdoors. Like we said before, it is easy to associate color with the sky. Lori Sawaya shared this with Sherwin-Williams: “Light blues especially lighten and brighten space and propagate any light that you do get because of the basic nature of color.” The shade makes for an effective way to add a calming effect to your property. This is enough for other people, but some people have put forward a different theory.
Not The Whole Story
The aesthetic choice theory stands, but it might not be the entire story. There is one more reason people go for a blue porch ceiling, although others think that it is nothing more than a myth. You see, the theory says that blue paint helps keep insects away when it is warmer. On Today, O’Neill explained, “If an insect perceives that a ceiling is really the sky, it instinctively won’t nest there.”
