The Rare Yellow Type
Some lilacs do not mean anything at all. This is the case for the yellow variant, which is rare. Also known as “Primrose,” its scientific name is Syringa vulgaris. In 1949, the variant was first introduced but had stayed rare compared to the other colors. The hue starts subtle but turns more intense later.
It Has Inspired Artists
No matter the color, lilacs have served as inspirations to a lot of artists over the years. For one thing, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet made lovely works of art of these blooms in the 19th century. Walt Whitman also wrote “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d” as an ode to Abraham Lincoln.
