This scene from “Jack” and “Rose” has been re-enacted millions of times. Titanic (1997) is one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It is therefore also one of the most famous kissing scenes, that a lot of people were trying to imitate for pictures.

Perhaps the most famous movie kiss of all time goes hand in hand with a good smack: when Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) kisses southern belle Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) on her perfectly curved lips, she vacillates between outrage and delight. He wants to go to war, she doesn’t want that, the drama is perfect, hearts broken, souls battered. When Butler says smugly: “You should be kissed, and often by someone who knows how to do it,” we too vacillate between indignation and ecstasy, but the exuberant pathos of this scene makes us romantically reconcile.
