Her mother was the one to introduce the children to her passion for country music. They were very young when they learned how to sing. Reba had her first solo performance during her first grade Christmas play when she sang “Away in a Manger”. The family frequently traveled for Clark’s rodeo competitions and the entire family liked to sing during the drives. Eventually, the children became known as the Singing McEntires! Reba often sang the national anthem during rodeo competitions and performed for the local radio station. Becoming Miss Ford Country

As she was growing up, Reba drew inspiration from female music artists like Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn. She had no idea she would surpass them and then become the bestselling female country musician in history! She was 16 years old when she won an essay contest and received the title of Miss Ford Country. Her prize was the opportunity to drive a new Ford for half a year. According to her, she hit 18,000 miles on the ride before it was finally time to give the truck back.
